After two excellent performances at the start of the Italian GT Sprint Championship season, Pietro Delli Guanti also started the Endurance series on the right foot, which began at the Vallelunga circuit in Rome. In front of a large audience, Delli Guanit achieved an excellent second place overall, behind the renowned Fisichella and Leclerc (Charles’ brother, editor’s note), also setting the fastest lap of the race.
In the free practice sessions, the Apulian driver, together with his two teammates Mazzola and Aka, worked as much as possible on the setup of their Audi R8 and on race strategies, then achieving the fifth fastest time overall in his qualifying session. During the race, the Tresor Team trio progressively approached the podium area, with Delli Guanti delivering an excellent final stint in which he also set the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1:32.039, even better than the time set in qualifying (1:32.1).
A truly excellent performance for the Apulian driver, who once again proved to be extremely fast and very consistent in his race management. He now holds double second-place finishes in the respective Sprint and Endurance championships.
Pietro Delli Guanti: “We had a really great race and we might even have aimed for the victory. We are very satisfied with keeping up with top-level drivers like Fisichella and Leclerc, and our R8 was really great throughout the three hours of the race. Now we are looking to do even better at Mugello.”
Delli Guanti will return to the track in mid-July at Mugello for the second round of the Endurance series before the summer break.
